Spirit of The Game Outlook
India Ultimate's SoTG Committee strives for every tournament to be played in a positive, spirited atmosphere, with all teams and players upholding the highest standards of Spirit of the Game.
Upholding SoTG is each player's responsibility. The following policies encourage teams and players to meet that responsibility through notification, education and, as a last resort, penalties.
Members with more than one year's playing history should hold the advanced rules accreditation. All members are required to complete the standard rules accreditation. Refer to the latest WFDF Rules of Ultimate here.
The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) periodically releases an updated Appendix to the Rules of Ultimate, which India Ultimate adopts for all WFDF-sanctioned events — including the World Ultimate and Guts Championships, World Junior Ultimate Championships and World Masters Ultimate Championships. Non-WFDF event organisers may also choose to use these rules for their events.
Highlights of the current edition include:
- The "Men's" division renamed to the "Open" division.
- Adjustments to the seeding and bids process.
- Changes to offside penalties.
- Updated hand signals for "4 Men" and "4 Women" calls.
- Guidance on how photographic or video footage may be used.
- Guidance on handling dangerous plays.
- Changes to receiving fouls for contact occurring after a block.

The only exception to holding an accreditation applies to members whose first and second language is not English — India Ultimate is committed to providing vernacular translations. Hindi, Tamil and Gujarati translations are available below.

Spirit of the Game (SoTG) is the mindful behaviour practised by players worldwide before, during and after a game. It is crucial for every player to be aware of, and to practise, the principles of SoTG.
To ensure a healthy practice of spirit without any language barriers, India Ultimate has put together the spirit rules in several regional languages.
